  • Number of homes sold this year till end of July 33,407, up 4% compared to the same period last year. Average sale price $166,800, up 5% from 2001. The median price in Houston area is $128,800, up 6% compared to 2001.

  • South Shore Harbour. A huge new subdivision is opening in this 20-year-old community in Galveston County. Work has begun on a new residential section called The Lakes. In about five years, it will have more than 1,200 homes ranging in price from $150,000 to $350,000.

    A five-story, 120,000-square-foot office building is being built on South Shore Boulevard. American National Insurance Co. is developing the $15 million project.
  • Northwest. 300 acres of Northwest Houston are being developed for residential and commercial use along Barker Cypress Road near U.S. 290. The residential portion of the project is called Barker Lake, a 225-acre subdivision in Cy-Fair ISD. The commercial phase, called Barker Commons, will cover 75 acres with retail space, restaurants and small office buildings.

  • Spring Park. Newmark will soon complete model homes in Spring Park. Home are priced from the $140,000 to the $180,000, ranging in size from 1,580 to 3,000 square feet. Several homes are under construction for move-in during the fall.
  • Silvercreek. The surrounding area is experiencing an booming in retail business, restaurants and service companies due to its residential population. The recent issue building permits include those for Home Depot, Sonic etc. .
  • Summerwood. Trendmaker will begin selling homes in Summerwood in late Fall, 2002. This 1,500-acre master-planned community is conveniently located North of Beltway 8 at Lake Houston Parkway. Pricing will be available at the time sales begin, it is anticipated that the pricing on these 75' home sites begin around the $260s or $270s. The plan line-up for Summerwood will be similar to those offered in our 70' section of Gleannloch Farms.
